WILD BANANA PRAWNS – Go Wild, Go Bananas!

The Wild Banana is delicate and subtle, and the flesh succulent. They are versatile, and rapidly absorb other flavours during cooking, which makes them perfect for spicy Asian dishes. 

Wild Banana Thai Curry


  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 kilo medium (10/20) Wild Bananas, peeled, deveined, leaving the tails intact
  • 2 tablespoons red curry paste
  • 270 grams coconut cream
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons grated palm sugar
  • 2 kaffir lime leaves
  • ¼ cup water
  • ½ cup fresh coriander leaves


  1. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a frying pan over a high heat. Add the Wild Banana’s and cook for 2-3 minutes or until cooked through. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
  2. Reduce the heat to medium. Add the red curry paste, coconut cream, fresh lime juice, grated palm sugar, kaffir lime leaves and water to the pan. Cook for 5 minutes.
  3. Add the Wild Bananas, stir until heated. Stir in fresh coriander leaves. Serve with steamed rice.
